Physical Appearance :
Hair Color: Purple. Eye Color: Purple. Height: 4'11" Build: Thin, somewhat frail.
Other Appearance Information: Yuri. The first thing one might notice about Yuri is her long violet purple hair, as it definitely leaves her standing out in a crowd. Not only is her hair a shade of purple but her eyes are too. They seem to burn with vigorous flame when they're not struck with the plague of confusion. A single ribbon is tied to a strand of her hair to remind herself of a childish dream of hers she hopes to accomplish someday.
When not in her old school uniform, Yuri is (most of the time) wearing a white blouse with a small leather vest on top of it. A red ribbon droops down from the blouse onto the vest. Yuri wears a miniskirt while in this outfit every so often. She wears a red hat thing on her head and never lets it leave her head save for times when she's at her house. Yuri wears black tights and black boots to compliment the mostly red and white color scheme. On rainy days or sometimes randomly Yuri will wear a blue T-shirt with jeans.
Personal Related Information:
Personality: Yuri, overall, is very courageous and caring for others around her. She has ADHD and does gain some hyperactivity and problems with attention span from it but ignores them and considers them part of her personality. Having been offered medication for it before, Yuri refused to take it despite her mother wanting her to and her mother has seen it impossible to get her to want to lose the ADHD. Yuri is childish at times and while talking to people she seems to almost be playing around with them. She has trouble with maturity and wants to mature too quickly and leave behind her cheery personality, but at the same time she wants to be herself.
Being tugged at by raising her Pokemon correctly and maturing constantly, Yuri gets stressed out randomly sometimes and may take it out on people around her though tries not to do it as much as possible. Instigating her to fight while stressed is something that is highly inadvisable since she can be very snappy and rude and tends to hold grudges even after she's blown up in someone's face. She does in fact have anger management problems and 'counting to ten' as many people want her to do has no effect on her anger. She is easily provoked and goes into rages and rants loudly provided the circumstances are set.
Yuri has a keen like for dragons, wolves, mythology, science, and videogames. She always paid attention during science class and let her mind daydream and allow it to wander during math classes. Yuri doesn't do her homework at home too often because the precious time she has while she's at home is 'better wasted' on videogames or reading books on mythology and history. Yuri is somewhat of a tomboy in the fact that she dislikes most things girls around her age are raving about (guys, makeup, romance novels, parties, etc.) and because of this tends to have trouble striking up conversation with most popular girls (or many girls, at all) at school. Yuri hates to wear small miniskirts.
The one thing that, upon being mentioned to Yuri, will get her flustered and/or angry is dating. Her mother and some of the few people she talked to at school tend to make jokes about her 'being wild in love with' any guy that she talks to. She really isn't interested in dating or any of the high school stuff going on at the time but it may look sometimes like she is and it is pointed out to her a little bit much. Mentioning dating a guy she's friends with to Yuri is perhaps the easiest way to get her raging to date.. no pun intended.
Yuri tends to be happy-go-lucky and cheerful throughout most of the day. She tries her hardest to make friends with people and the purple ribbon she got while in first grade still is tied to her hair every day. Yuri considers the ribbon an incredibly precious thing to her and freaks out when she loses it (which does happen often) and immediately goes out to search for it, rain or shine. Even though she's no longer set on being a doctor, Yuri considers the ribbon a symbol of her future and success.
Yuri has a tendency to litter her sentences with "uh" and "um," especially when talking to multiple people at one time. She's not any bit shy but sometimes it takes her a bit to process a thought. Yuri's also not dumb but she likes to take her time to think thoughts rather than blurt out the first thought that comes to her mind, even though it's what she does often. When she is angry, freaks out, or starts to panic, she stops with the "um"s and instead does what she normally does when she is angered/freaks out/panics/all of the above.
History: Yuri was born and raised in New Bark Town, which didn't exactly give her an eventful life. Her parents didn't really have anything to do with Pokemon, besides the fact that her father had a Totodile he had gotten when he was ten on a journey to become a Pokemon trainer. Now the Totodile was a Croconaw, and he just lived a relaxed life with his wife and daughter. Yuri didn't want to be stuck in a house forever with his parents and his dad's Pokemon, so she decided that when she became ten, she would get her starter and get going on becoming a trainer. Her tenth birthday finally came, and she was so excited, she barely took any time getting up, dressed, and everything. Yuri went off to get her starter Pokemon, which would have been either Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile. After a long while of thinking, she decided since she liked Fire types the most, she would pick Cyndaquil. The professor gave her the Pokemon's pokeball, and she instantly released him and named him Scorch.
They seemed to get along okay, not necessarily great or terribly, and they didn't exactly get along way too well. Cyndaquil was grateful for finally being out of his Pokeball, out in the world with a trainer, but didn't like the whole trainer part to the highest degree. You see, he was a more wild Pokemon and not necessarily the type that would love being stuck either in a Pokeball or fighting for some kid he barely knew, if you know what I mean. So while Yuri tried to do her part to become more like friends instead of pet and owner with Scorch. Of course it was a lost cause by the minute that she had picked Cyndaquil as her starter. Or so it was easily thought of as so.. And so, it was at least a week and Cyndaquil refused to fight and would only interact with Yuri to eat or attack her when she annoyed him. She was stuck still living at home for the time in that week, as traveling with a Pokemon that refused to fight was pretty much suicide if any wild Pokemon or 'bad' trainer came along.
It changed quickly and it surprised everyone around the two. Their tense relationship turned into a strong bond, as one day occurred and they were forced to face off against a Spinarak that had come into the town. Not that he would have been angered, but Yuri's father's Crocanaw wasn't all too happy about another Pokemon trying to get so dangerously close to his trainer's family, and attacked it. However, the only thing that he was able to accomplish was getting himself stuck in a String Shot attack, immobile. It was now up to Scorch and Yuri to defeat the angered bug-type Pokemon, as he wouldn't leave the family alone without their intervention. At first, the battle was refused by Cyndaquil, but Spinarak wasn't joking one bit about fighting them, and shot a String Shot at the fire-type. Scorch was so wrapped up in ignoring the battle that he didn't have time to react, and it would have been absolutely impossibly to dodge if anyone didn't intervene. Yuri didn't want her partner in crime to get hit by the String Shot, and ran, barely in time, to shield Cyndaquil from the attack. While she was all stickied up by this, she left her Pokemon able to fight.
Scorch was amazed that she'd actually want to protect him, and smiled at her. For the first time, the flames on his back fired up and he used 'Ember' on the Spinarak, crisping it instantly and forcing it to flee to avoid further sizzling. Cyndaquil was able to then free Croconaw and Yuri by means of burning them, but hey, not everything can be perfect, now, can it? After about an hour of being chased by the water Pokemon, Scorch and Yuri were finally able to get back down to earth and speak to each other, even if most of it was just high pitched squeaks of one's own name. They bonded instantly, as Yuri defended Cyndaquil and Scorch in turn protected Yuri. The girl that owned his pokeball promised not to ever force him into it, so he could be more wild. All in all it worked out pretty well. Cyndaquil protected Yuri from wild Pokemon and 'bad' trainers, and in turn, Yuri would let him out of his pokeball. Three years passed of them traveling out of their hometown. Scorch and Yuri at this point were inseperable, and were more of really close friends rather than Pokemon and trainer. Together, they were able to actually get six gym badges. Yuri hasn't caught any other Pokemon so far other than Cyndaquil, which doesn't really even count as a capture due to being her starter. But they hope to have some others to have on a team, soon.
Well, Yuri couldn't stay in Johto forever. Adventures never rest, despite it seeming like it may for some people. Their will to go out and do something other than staying in the same place to get the next two badges overpowered the want for two more badges, so about two months after Yuri's birthday, they boarded a ship to Hoenn and said goodbye to what they called home for 14 and 4 years. They landed at Actino Port in the Kumogata Region, not seeing anything really interesting in the region. They went to the city surrounding it and slowly made their way to the route past Cumilio Town. They heard a noise unlike the other Pokemon they had passed in the area and found a young Charmander, desperately jumping up and down at an apple tree to grab said fruit. Yuri and Scorch walked up to it and tried to help it, but it fled in fear the moment they tried. Yuri reached up and grabbed the apple, kneeling down and setting it down before standing back up and returning to the road. As she left, the young Charmander came back from his hiding spot and picked up the apple which was fairly large relative to his body size and nibbled on it a bit. He really wasn't too hungry at the time, but had to jump at an apple for a while before he would be able to get it down from the tree so he usually set apple-jumping time for about an hour before he would actually be hungry.
The fire-type Pokemon finished eating the small bit of the fruit he was given and quietly and cautiously crawled over to the road. He ran up it in an attempt to find and watch the trainer and her Pokemon to see if they were safe or not. He, quite frankly, had enough of having to desperately fight for his food every day but at the same time had been abused by Pokemon trainers in his own past so he really had trust issues pertaining to humans. Yuri and Scorch both were oblivious to the young Charmander following them and traveled all the way to Calvus Town before they noticed a third set of footsteps. The Charmander had wanted to view them too close up and as such had become audible. Scorch turned around on Yuri's head and announced "Cynda!" to allow Yuri to become aware of the Charmander. She turned around which forced Scorch to turn around again and they scared off Charmander again before he could attempt to confront them. After being confused for a bit, they entered and exited the city to find the next route and continue moving. Charmander flanked the city to find them at the place he figured they would be at while leaving. He was hungry by about now, and it was close to sunset. The sun had already begun to hide below the horizon at this time.
He tailed the trainer and her Pokemon until it was nighttime, and visibility was low. They ditched the road with Charmander following until they found a good open spot in the woods and set up camp. Charmander didn't want to confront them yet and from what he'd seen he was OK with the trainer and her Pokemon, since they didn't seem like battle maniacs or plain psychos. He wandered around in a desperate attempt to find berries, apples, or something edible, but to no avail. He smelled the powerful odor of a delicious blend of vegetables and broth coming from the general direction of the Cyndaquil and the girl so he walked over to a nearby tree by them and hid behind it to watch them. The young purple-haired girl, Yuri, was boiling soup over a campfire and Cyndaquil sat on a nearby bed of grass, staring hungrily at the pot. It would be tempting to run up to them and attempt to just jump at the pot and eat the food, but he was too scared of the human to do such a thing. The Charmander stood completely still, eying the two as Yuri poured a generous serving of soup to her partner. The delicious smell wafting through the air forced its way into the stealthy fire-type's nose. He was sooo hungry, and food was right in front of him..
His stomach grumbled, alerting Yuri and Scorch to his presence. "Cynda?" Yuri's Pokemon voiced, hopping over to the tree Charmander hid behind, the lizard Pokemon's tail lighting the way. Charmander was frozen in fear this time, unlike last. Yuri set the spoon down in the pot and crouched low to the ground, crawling over to the Charmander slowly. "It's okay, I won't hurt you. You're hungry, aren't you?" Charmander didn't respond, only stood still with fear struck into his eyes. Yuri stood up and walked over to the pot, sitting down on her log and turning around to shuffle through her backpack. She found a cup- it wasn't exactly something that one would easily eat soup with but it would do. She scooped up a helping and dumped it into the cup, heat rising from the food. She walked back to Charmander which caused him to flinch and she set down the cup. Scorch looked around and piped "Cynda!" before returning back to the grass bed made for him. He crammed his face into the soup (his long snout-like nose didn't help) and began to eat. Yuri looked at Charmander, back at Scorch, and back again to Charmander and walked back to her log to begin to eat. Charmander didn't exactly know if he would eat the food given to him right now- it could be infected with poison, after all. Yuri picked her spoon out of her soup bowl and looked at Charmander, of whom just stared at the cup of soup.
Yuri slowly moved over to Charmander, keeping a little bit of distance from the terrified Pokemon, and got his attention with a quiet "Hey." Charmander looked up at her. He more worried than scared at this point since she seemed to be a nice human but it was only that. She still could be evil, after all, since seeming to be nice was as good as putting a mask over oneself that one "was nice." Yuri attempted to remove the thought from Charmander's head. She made sure he was looking and scooped a spoonful of her soup and ate it while smiling to show it wouldn't harm either one of them. Yuri backed up and walked back to her log, eating her soup in silence along with her partner. The Charmander studied the cup of hot food for a moment and held it in his small hands, lifting it up to his mouth. He drank a bit of the hot broth and set it down, unaffected by the heat due to being a fire-type like Cyndaquil. The Charmander rather liked the soup. It was unlike eating random berries or desperately attempting to claw at apple trees. The thought of poison disappeared from his mind- perhaps this girl was the real deal? Perhaps she was a truly kind trainer and not a psycho who wanted only to watch her Pokemon battle. Charmander stopped his worries for a moment, as a human had not really been this kind to him before. He had a hard time believing it was a deception.
Charmander, still holding the cup, dawdled over to the two and sat on the bare ground across from them. "Char char?" He didn't want to be in a Pokeball. If he were put in a Pokeball by this girl, that would mean that he would want to be with her until.. Well, until he ran away or until something else happened. Charmander wasn't quite ready for that yet. Yuri looked at the Pokemon for a moment and smiled. At least she wasn't scaring him off. Cyndaquil seemed somewhat happy, but it was like other Pokemon Yuri had helped in the past. They weren't going to stay with the team, but they were sometimes fun playmates while they were being helped out by Yuri. This Charmander was no exception- he seemed paranoid of humans so there would be no way he would be staying with them, anyways. Scorch soon finished his bowl of soup and curled up in the grass bed, moving aside a bit in case if the Charmander wanted at least to have some rest on a somewhat soft place instead of on the dirt. Yuri finished hers at around the same time Scorch did and pulled out a sleeping back hanging from her backpack and unraveled it, her head resting on the pack itself. The two fell asleep quickly, and Charmander (after some time) fell over near Scorch and slept.
The next morning, Scorch and Yuri woke up and were surprised to see that the Charmander didn't immediately run away after being fed. <Insert history rush here> Charmander allowed himself to be caught by Yuri after a bit, and Yuri met a trainer with a Jolteon that he disliked. After a bit of talking with the trainer, he gave the Jolteon to her and they made it to Nimbus City.
Character's Pokemon:
Name: Scorch. Gender: Male. Species: Cyndaquil. Type: Fire. Level: 5. Attacks:
Age: 4 years. Personality: Even after four years of adventuring with Yuri, Scorch retains the same traits he had back when Yuri chose him from Professor Elm's lab. Scorch is incredibly independent to the point that he works terribly when in a double battle alongside one of Yuri's other Pokemon. He may be a little rash at times as upon being annoyed by someone or by another Pokemon, he likes to spew some fire in his/her/it's face. Scorch likes to battle but equally as much likes to just be in Yuri's company and just run around, enjoying himself with her other Pokemon.
Scorch constantly worries about Blaze's safety, as he is a very young and inexperienced Pokemon. He dislikes watching Blaze in battle not because of jealousy but simply because he's scared that the Charmander could get hurt. After all, Blaze is just a step up from a baby. Scorch is Yuri's strongest Pokemon and is essentially her trump card at any time during a fight. He is, for most of the day, found resting in her arms or clinging to her head. Yuri and him share a close bond, even if they do bicker from time to time. (Scorch obviously cannot speak.)
Name: Jolt. Gender: Male. Species: Jolteon. Type: Electric. Level: 5. Attacks:
- Tackle
- Tail Whip
- Helping Hand
- -
Age: 2 1/2 years. Personality: Jolt is a very playful, energetic, and happy Pokemon. He likes to battle sometimes but only when he's in the mood. Jolt is very eager to make friends with other Pokemon and is somewhat naive. He reacts oddly to sugary products in such a way that he becomes incredibly spazzy to the point that the only thing Jolt can do to wear off the sugar is to run in circles at a rapid pace. Because Jolt has a sugar problem, Yuri has to get special Pokemon food for him to eat otherwise he may go into a sugar craze over even the slightest bits of sugar given to him. There are times however when Yuri will allow him to eat sugary products, just so that he isn't forced to eat plain tasteless food.
He wants to be friends with Blaze but the young Charmander is simply too scared of him to allow bonds to form between the two. Scorch and Jolt however have been able to become friends. Jolt does have a serious side to him sometimes, especially when Scorch or sometimes Yuri are in trouble. At night, Jolt sometimes simply lays down and stares at the moon while thinking about the day. Jolt doesn't seem to like Yuri yet and disobeys her often in battle to bring out his own strategy.
Name: Blaze. Gender: Male. Species: Charmander. Type: Fire. Level: 5. Attacks:
Age: 6 months. Personality: Blaze is a very shy Pokemon. He dislikes battling unless if it involves helping his trainer out in any way, in which case he will change from timid to vigorous and wild. He doesn't interact with many other Pokemon besides Scorch whom he trusts, as it was the only Pokemon on Yuri's team when he was lulled into being caught. Blaze is worried about evolving and has to speak to Scorch quite often about it as he won't be able to hide from people anymore and he'd look more ferocious. Though at this point, Blaze is still on a neutral level with evolving, for now he refuses to do such a thing. Blaze loves to play with Scorch when Yuri isn't busy trying to help the team train, but is scared of any other Pokemon that he hasn't known for a while for numerous reasons.
Blaze is scared of Jolt. Jolteon look fearsome to Blaze, and that added with him already being incredibly timid when interacting with others doesn't help. Blaze can fight in double battles with others well if he is already friendly and close with the other Pokemon he's fighting alongside. He puts his teammate in front of himself while doing such a thing and actually can come off as a strong and fearsome opponent.. at least, when he isn't terrified to death of the enemy. Blaze is a very proud Pokemon when he finds a reason to be. Perhaps he'll find his permanent reason soon?
