Contest Rules
[/b][/center]Pokemon Contests; The pinnacle of beauty, honour, and perfection. Or at least, that’s what any co-ordinator would say. Pokemon Contests happen to be the second most popular competition in the World, sitting very comfortably behind Battling, having a fan base which has even begun to slightly rival the huge fighting fanbase. This is simply because of the sheer elegance of the Contests, which contain not only a round of amazing appeals, but a round of battling as well, Competitors supposed to combine their Pokemons talents along with tactics to create remarkable matches, and ones that the crowd seem to be able to get into far more so than Pokemon Battles. Kumogata is a very varied nation, and one that willingly accepts the Pokemon Contests into their society, even having Contest halls in Six different towns of the Region, the different halls located in Nimbus, Cumolio, Altos, Pyru, Cirru and Medio, the contests happening twice yearly in each town, acting via a one contest every month system, meaning that if co-ordinators are late to getting to one of the halls, they’ll miss that contest for another half a year, making Kumogata perhaps one of the toughest Regions to compete in a contest in. The Judges of the Kumogata contests being Mr. Sukizo, Mr. Contesta, the Nurse Joy of the local town, and Lucas Birch, son of the famous Professor of Sinnoh. Two of these judges, Sukizo and Contesta, travel the world constantly for their jobs, and as such they may occasionally not be present for one or two contests due to time constraints.
Each contest is split into three different rounds, and the Pokemon Contests of Kumogata are no different, each of the rounds being described in short summaries bellow:
The Appeal Round:
The first round and perhaps the most fun round in the eyes of a Roleplayer, the Appeal Round is actually going to be left completely to the Roleplayer in a sense. Basically, the Roleplayer will post (in the contest topic) their Pokemon name, contest stats, hold item, and moves. They will then proceed to make an IC post involving their Pokemon, who will perform a routine based on what moves they have, as well as what obstacles they are provided for the duration of the round. You are allowed to bring props purchased at the Mart. After the appeal is ended, you will post [END APPEAL] at the bottom of your post, and then may post your characters IC reaction to the performance if you wish. Once all entrants have completed their routines, whoever is judging the contest will post a score. It will actually be the judges response to how well they believe you’ve roleplayed the event, as well as if they think it would do well given the situation, but it will be Roleplayed as if it’s all the Judges choosing a combined score. The Top 4 People will be sent through to the next round, and the rest are allowed to roleplay themselves watching the rest of the contest should they wish.
The Battle Round:
Round two consists of the final four members being paired off, and then having to fight against eachother with their Pokemon in what’s known as a Contest Battle. Each trainer will PM their single Pokemon for the battle to their judge along with their orders for the first turn, and the judge will then roleplay out the first round, both Pokemon being sent out and how the battling order goes. Then, the first player (chosen by a flip of a coin) will post their next orders, making sure to keep in with the fact they want to be appealing. The next battler will post their orders, making sure that they too are appealing, and possibly turning their opponents appeal against them in combat. The judge will once again roleplay out the battle, and then the ordering order switches. The battle will go on for either seven turns, or until one of the Pokemon has fainted, at which point the Judge will make the difficult decision of who’s Pokemon had been more appealing during the battle. The winner would go on to the finals, while the loser would go to the second stage of the Battle Round, fighting against the other loser for third place.
