Rick had just left Professor Pine's laboratory and was standing just outside Humil town, wondering where he should go next. He gave a small sigh, leaning against a large wooden sign that read 'Welcome to Humil'. Rikash's hands dropped to the Pokeballs around his waist. For now, this was the only one he had that was full, but in his bag he carried several more, and although for now they were empty, Rikash was sure that it wouldn't be long at all before they contained a rare and powerful Pokemon.
Rikash smiled. But where would one find a rare Pokemon? Certainly not here, that much he was sure of. Rikash glanced around the third route of the Kumogata region and snorted. There wouldn't be anything half rare here, if he wanted an interesting Pokemon he'd need to travel a lot further than this. Nevertheless, this could be a good place for training. If he was going to travel further afield to capture rare Pokemon, Smeargle was going to have to be strong, and who better to train on than weak Pokemon that would most likely not be wanted by anyone anyway.
Rick looked out over the small bushes and long-ish grass that covered the route. With his new attack, Smeargle was going to be really powerful. Rikash looked around, waiting for something on which he could train. His hand was gripped around Smeargle's pokéball. As soon as something came along, he'd be ready to put the Pokemon's new attack to the test.

Kayla really hadn’t spent that long in Humil, but it didn’t really matter that much to her at the minute, she could always go back later, right now she had been slightly freaked out by the amount of people she had seen, and had been planning just to walk quietly outside the city, instead of having to properly search inside, and have a look around. She could get used to the surrounding this way, and then she would be able to go back when it was a little bit quieter, and she would be able to look around a little bit more, but anyway, she planned on sleeping outside the city in the first place, it was much nicer for her outdoors, and she was simply a lot happier, and she liked the outdoors a lot more, just as long as she didn’t end up bumping into anything like a swarm of bug Pokémon.
She looked around quite quickly, her eyes darting around, as she looked to pick up anywhere she would be able to sleep that night. There wasn’t any obvious winner, just a little bit of forest, and that was it. She didn’t really fancy sleeping in the forest, so she would have to find somewhere else, maybe just a little bit away from it. She looked around a little more, spotting someone else, over a little bit into the forest, well more like a bush and some grass, but still. She would just leave them to whatever they where doing. Taking a step back, she felt some sort of rock, perhaps a little bit too late, and fell backwards, arms waving in the process, as she tried to gain some sort of balance while she fell, failing. She made a dull thud in the ground, ”Ouch.” She mumbled.

Just as Rikash was getting bored of waiting for someone to come along, he heard someone speak from a few meters away. He looked behind him and saw a girl a few years younger than him. She appeared to have fallen, and being the nice guy that he was he walked over to her.
"You Okay?" he asked, smiling down at her and helping her up. As he did so, he happened to notice the Pokeballs by her side. Hmm, She was a trainer. Maybe she would like to train with him.
"Hey, I'm Rick," he smiled, introducing himself. "I can't help noticing that you've got some Pokemon there. Would you perhaps like to have a little battle? Nothing serious, just some friendly training," he winked. This would be the perfect opportunity for him to get Smeargle a bit more powerful, and maybe learn something about how other trainers fought. Who knew, maybe he'd even make a new friend. Rick took a step back, smiling and holding up his single Pokemon.
"So? What do you say?"

Kayla had looked up, and knew immediately that the boy had noticed her, he had come over to help her, she smiled feebly. ”Erm, I’m good.” She spoke quietly, and softly as she pulled herself back up straight. She found that it was too dirty on the ground to stay there for any length of time, and she didn’t really know when she would be able to wash her clothes properly, it was most likely going to be at her first contest, where she actually needed someplace proper to stay.
Rick had introduced himself, so simply to be polite, Kayla spoke again, though her voice was still it’s same normal quite, ”My name’s Kayla.” She said, feeling horribly shy, and slightly nervous, hoping she didn’t look too stupid for falling over, it hadn’t been her fault, she hadn’t known there was a rock there, well maybe she could have been a little bit more careful. Then Rick had offered her a Pokémon battle, after noticing the obvious Poke Balls on her belt, two on her left, eight on her right. Not that she really expected to catch eight more Pokémon, just the best looking ones for her team for contests. ”Erm, sure.” She said, again quietly. She really needed to learn to speak up.

Rick grinned. "Right then. Let's get started,"Taking another couple steps back, Rikash pressed the button of his Pokeball, preparing the Smeargle inside for battle. Smeargle! Go!" Rikash threw the Pokéball out in front of him, watching excitedly as it landed on the floor, opening and spitting out the strands of white energy that soon formed themselves into Rikash's one and only Pokémon, Smeargle. Rick smiled at the site of his rare Pokemon. "Only one at a time, but you can use as many Pokemon as you like. It'll be good training for Smeargle," he grinned. This was his first Pokemon battle and he was excited. "Go for it,"

Kayla simply nodded her head to show that she understood what was going on, she didn’t really want to speak much more, as she was happy enough to be silent at the minute, and keep it that way. Now however she had a much more interesting, and vital choice, whether to use Capricorn, or Airies. Even though if one went down, she would have the option to bring the other one out, she would rather not have it come down to this. She had to make a choice, so she should probably look at the Pokemon she was facing. Could it fly? No, it was slightly clearer now, Airies could always keep in the air, in order to evade attacks.
”Go Airies.” She yelled, her voice picking up, at the Taillow appeared on her side, flapping it’s wings, seeming to be quite contents. ”Go, Peck attack.” She said, hoping that the sudden speed would give her and advantage in the early stages of the battle, before it became a waiting game between the two.

Observing the girl closely, Rikash noticed that she had two pokemon. It didn't matter too much to him, but it would make it a bit harder on Smeargle. Hopefully they'd be able to take out one of them before he went down though. Rick watched as Kayla thought carefully about what Pokemon she was going to send out first. Now, Rikash wasn't sure what Pokemon she owned, but if this proved anything it was that she wasn't stupid, she was thinking about her actions and planning them out carefully. Good. That would make it a whole lot more fun.
Rikash smirked as the Tailow was sent out. He certainly wasn't missing anything by searching only for rare pokemon. He was about to command Smeargle to attack, but there bird was too quick and zoomed over to Smeargle giving his a sharp peck on the top of his head. Luckily, this part of his head was protected by a beret like feature which although still felt the pain, was covered with tougher skin and so didn't hurt as much as it would have elsewhere. Rikash grinned, looking at Smeargle who seemed more annoyed than anything else.
"Nice try, But now it's our turn," he winked.
Smeargle, Use Dragon Rush!
Almost as soon as he'd called out the name of the attack, Smeargle got to work. Unlike the last time he'd performed it, he was no longer copying but actually performing the move for himself. The air around Sneargles cream colored body seemed to glow with the Draconic power of the Shiny Altaria's attack. Smeargle charged forward towards where the Tailow was flying a few feet above the ground. About a meter from the Pokemon, he leaped up, Spraying Shards of rock and fire all over as he attempted to smash his body into the Tailows thin, frail form. The trainers, who were a couple of meters back, wouldn't be harmed, but the rock shards were sharp and hot from the Draconic flames and if they did happen to hit Tailow it would do a lot more damage than Smeargle's body crashing into him could do on it's own.

Kayla’s expectations of the sort of attack which she was likely to face from what looked like a normal-type Pokémon had been proved to be rather harshly wrong. She had expected something along the lines of her own Bidoof, tackle, growl, bite, something like that. She would be able to cope with things like that, but not Dragon Rush? What was Dragon Rush? She hadn’t heard of it, though her knowledge wasn’t exactly the greatest when she compared it to some other people she knew about, and actually when she thought about it, she didn’t know that much. She was learning, and she would have to learn quickly if she wanted to win as well, else she would end up with Airies unconscious on the ground, and having to rely on Capricorn, which she didn’t have as much faith in, for not having owned the Bidoof for as long as she had kept hold of Airies.
”Come on Airies, dodge it.” The Taillow moved quickly, but not quickly enough, get scraped by the attack, and squawking loudly, most likely in anger. ”Go, try pecking from below.” She yelled, hoping she would be able to do more damage going for the torso, and chest area, though it would make Airies a little bit more vulnerable. Airies swooped down, attempting to fly right at the chest of the Smeargle.

Rick grinned. She hadn't seen that coming. Dragon rush was perfect, no one was going to expect that from Smeargle unless they'd really done their research. Professor Pine had told him that even a lot of people who have Smeargles themselves didn't even know about their special 'Sketch' ability, so a person who had never seen one before and knew about it was quite unlikely, which meant that Smeargle would always be able to surprise them with his strange and wonderful attacks.
The attack wasn't as effective as Rick had hoped, merely scraping Tailow on the side, but it did damage and that was good enough for him. Besides, Smeargle wasn't going to run out of steam for a while now, and Spamming Dragon rush on the tailow would surely result in it not lasting too much longer at all.
The girls next technique was the same, but this time she told the Pokemon to aim for Smeargle's underside, his belly and chest etcetera. Rick grinned. "Quick Smeargle, Jump upwards!" he said, Hoping that he could get out the way in time, but alas it was not to be. The Tailow was a bit faster than Smeargle and was just able to dig it's sharp beak into his stomach before he could get away. Smeargle yelped in pain, leaping backwards almost to where Rick was standing. He growled at the Tailow, and Rick didn't even have time to name the attack before the Smeargle set off again, charging towards the Tailow where it was, still on the Ground.
"Er, Yeah, Dragon Rush again, Just full on,"
Smeargle charged again, ripping up even more of the ground and spewing the sharp pieces of rock everywhere. The pain in his stomach driving him on, Smeargle was determined that this Tailow was going to be down and out quicker than one could say 'I Love Pagumon'.

”AIRIES” Kayla yelled, watching her attack completely backfire on her, damn the Smeagle was fast, and devastatingly quick with that attack as well, Kayla didn’t think Airies would be able to hold it’s own for very much longer, so her thoughts would have to turn to Capricorn, and the best chances which he would stand, there weren’t that many really, apart from ending it quickly, with a good tackle, right in the chest, and then pinning the Smeagle.
She heard a cry from Airies, as sure enough she watched him get completely caught up in the attack, falling a few yards from where she stood, barely just standing. ”Come on.” She muttered. She had better plans in her head now, she would have been able to take advantage of Aires ability to fly a little bit better, she could have had him fly down from the sun, Smeagle wouldn’t have been able to stop that, he would have been able to see.

It was working. Surely the Tailow wasn't strong enough to be holding on for much longer. Rick was almost positive he could at least take out this one before the girl sent out her next Pokemon. Rick wasn't sure what it would be, but if it had been him he would have saved his best Pokemon till last, so he wasn't too hopeful about beating her second pokemon to. Nevertheless, he could still train Smeargle up a bit if he won this first fight. Clenching his teeth, Rick turned back to the battle.
Luckily, Tailow still seemed to be pretty injured by Smeargle's previous attack and so hadn't attacked yet. This was great for Smeargle and Rick, because it gave them another chance to take it down once and for all.
"Go on, One last Dragon Rush,"
Once again, he charged towards the Tailow, putting as much energy as he could into the attack. Although on the outside he seemed fine, he was getting very tired. Dragon rush was a draining move, far more so than the Tackles or Pecks most pokemon of his level were able to use, and Smeargle was getting tired, which meant he wasn't quite sure whether or not this attack would connect.
He hoped it did though. At the moment, all he wanted to do was get back in his Pokeball and have a rest.

Kayla could only watch as Taillow was struck again the Dragon Rush, completely flooring Airies. She looked down at the ground for a second, and then back up. ”Unlucky Airies, have a rest.” Kayla raised the Taillow’s Poke ball, returning Airies back inside. She was sure he would be able to rest in there and the chances where that he would need to rest, if he was going to be able to recover properly. And that left her with one choice left.
”Go, Capricorn.” She yelled, throwing her other Pokémon out, her Bidoof. ”Go, tackle, quick.” The Bidoof ran as quickly as his little legs would take him, right at the Smeagle. It was her best shot, to end the fight quickly, before another Dragon Rush attack knocked Bidoof out, and she ended up losing.

Rick grinned.
One Down, One to Go
He watched as Kayla withdrew Tailow, and waited for her to send out her next, and hopefully slightly weaker Pokemon. Rikash was in luck. The next pokemon Kayla send out was a Bidoof, and from what Rick could tell, it wasn't very powerful. Nevertheless, at the moment, already having fought one battle, Smeargle wasn't much better. Rick watched as the tackle came towards Smeargle. Too many of them would knock smeargle out no problem.
"Dodge it Smeargle!"
Smeargle heard what Rick said, but was too tired to move out of the way Before Bidoof came crashing into him, knocking him back.
"Smeaaar!?" shouted Smeargle, quite hurt by the attack he leant back, taking a few deep breaths.
"Alright, now, Dragon rush him!" shouted Rick, but Smeargle was simply too tired to obey. Smeargle yawned, sitting down. It appeared that he intended to take a rest before he did any more fighting, and frankly, who could blame him?
Rick groaned. "Oh alright, take a little break. It'll probably do you good anyway," he moaned, knowing full well that while Smeargle taking a little rest might earn him some of his energy and strength back, it also left him wide open for another tackle if the Bidoof attacked again.

That was surprising to Kayla, the Smeagle seemed to simply be resting, sleeping even. Still she wasn’t going to give up on the advantage which Capricorn would have now, he could go for the knockout. ”Go Capricorn, get him while he can’t protect himself, tackle again.” Capricorn ran forwards at the Smeagle again, tackling. Kayla hoped that this would end the fight, if not and the Smeagle woke up with energy, she didn’t really fancy her chances against it, and the Dragon Rush attack.
No this would finish the fight, she was sure of that, it simply had to. She gritted her teeth slightly, as she had taken to every time a battle was about to end. It wasn’t something which she could help, it was just something that she did automatically, and she was doing it again. She was just glad she could look, she would hate it if she was too scared to watch for some reason or another.

Rick cursed as he saw Bidoof running towards Smeargle again to tackle him. He was sure the battle was over now, Surely Smeargle couldn't take yet another hit, could he? Smeargle to saw the beaver like creature running towards him, and was a bit worried rick didn't need to tell him to try and dodge, but even if he had, it wouldn't have made much of a difference.
Smeargle tried to dodge, but couldn't really do much to get away save for a slightly pitiful roll to the side. As one would expect, the roll did little to prevent the force of Bidoof crashing into him and sending him flying backwards. With a groan , Smeargle fell to the ground.
From a few meters away, Rikash cursed. "Ugh... Alright, You win. Thanks for the training, it was good for Smeargle. I'm quite a new trainer you see. You must have been doing this for a while to beat me," grinned Rick.
"Smeargle, Return!"
Rick held out his Pokeball, pressing the button and watching as the Smeargle was whooshed back into the Pokeball where he could finally take a little rest.
"I guess I just need to catch some more Pokemon If I want to win,"
